Tree Risk-Benefit Management Seminar - It's Free!

North Yorkshire (except York) is becoming a 'Northern Powerhouse' Unitary Authority. During our Autumn Tree Risk Training tour of the UK, we've been asked whether we can pop to into Harrogate and chat about the many advantages of adopting a Tree Risk-Benefit Management Strategy.

Who's coming?
Harrogate Borough Council was an earlier adopter of VALID's approach to tree risk, and Alex Poulton-White (Tree Officer) is keen that North Yorkshire Council sings from the same hymn sheet about how they manage tree risk. So, he's invited a wide-ranging bunch, from 'service managers, facility management, highways management/data/engineers, and insurance', and a few Tree Officers.

Alex is happy to open the doors and invite anyone who faces the challenges of managing tree risk to come along, and to enjoy the networking opportunity. This is going to be a half-day event at Harrogate Council, with some lunch thrown in for those who'd like to stay on and rub shoulders.

What we'll be covering
To whet your appetite. David's been invited to present at NZ Arb's Conference in Wellington this November. One of his presentations is about Tree Risk-Benefit Management, and this is the blurb (with the last paragraph tweaked for Harrogate).

"Any assessment of the risk from trees falling should begin with a Tree Risk-Benefit Management Strategy. A Strategy that discharges the duty of care by managing the risk to an Acceptable or Tolerable level, and insurers are happy to underwrite. A Strategy that makes it crystal clear what the risk assessor is doing and why they're doing it. And, one that is cost-effective.

Not only does a robust Strategy do more than 99% of your risk assessments for you, it'll likely capture any red risks before they happen. In the extremely unlikely event of a green risk happening, if a tree risk entrepreneur has persuaded a Claimant to attempt legal or enforcement action against a Duty Holder or Arborist, your best bet to disarm them is with the in-depth defence you get with the Strategy.

I'll show what a resilient Tree Risk-Benefit Management Strategy looks like. We'll also explore what risk management lessons we can take from recent UK Civil Judgments like Cavanagh v Witley Parish Council and Hoyle v Hampshire County Council, and some Coroner's verdicts."
